April
25, 2007 - Jerome Awaits Bears Saturday
The
7-1 Upper Arlington mens lacrosse team hit the halfway
point of the season Wednesday night with an 11-3 win
over rival Worthington Kilbourne at Marv Moorhead Stadium.
16-year head coach Ted Wolford sees a team clearly improving.
"I'm happy with our overall play. We're starting
to eliminate unforced errors and understand our own
capabilities," said Wolford. "It was a matter
of getting our guys some experience. We couldn't give
that to them. They had to do that on their own."
The
3-time defending state champion Bears meet up with homestanding
Dublin Jerome Saturday night in a rematch of the
2006 state title game. "Jerome is an athletic team.
They are well coached and very aggressive on the offensive
and defensive end," said Wolford. "They have
changed a lot of faces like we have." The Celtics
lost their starting attack and goalie from a year ago.
"It should be a good match-up," added Wolford.
"We have a little bit of history with the two games
we played against them last year." UA won the state
championship game, 9-6 at Dublin Jerome last year.
