May 20, 2007 - BEARS BEGIN STATE TITLE DEFENSE

The 3-time defending state champion Upper Arlington Golden Bears will begin defense of their title this week against the Toledo St. Johns-Thomas Worthington winner in the second round.

The Bears, who will receive a first-round bye, will host the game Thursday night at 7:30 unless St. John's advances and opts to accept UA's offer to play Wednesday night to avoid a graduation conflict.

16-year UA Head Coach Ted Wolford is confident his team can turn its attention to the final hurdle of the season after coming off an emotional Midwest Scholatic Lacrosse Association championship run in Detroit over the weekend. "We have to let this (MSLCA title) get past us and change our focus on something else."

The Ohio High School Lacrosse Association championship game is set for June 2nd at Dublin Scioto.
